Fog & Flame

Coffee Beans & Latte Steam

Hearing the sound of the steamer machine engraving tusks of white foam on top of the cappuccino that a woman in all black just ordered. Her fingers are dancing through her hair. She checks her watch and latches onto the cup of coffee that hits the table, and rushes out the door.

Dim rustic lights hang from the ceiling with multiple wooden tables covering the chocolate like floors. The aroma of fresh coffee beans wakes those entering the cafe, without even taking one sip of coffee. A corner of the cafe wall is a soft red with small bricks engulfing the aesthetic feel of the coffee bar.
A women with long dirty blond hair prepares an
iced latte. First adding the ice and milk, she then carefully adds the black espresso shot making the once pure white milk turn to a soft brown.
"We have a lot of regulars come in, who order the same thing every time...sometimes they spice it up and get a macchiato instead of their regular latte," says the women (who wishes to remain anonymous). "People enjoy it here because it's quiet. It's a relaxing place to read, finish up a paper, or even just to drink coffee and people watch," she explains.

The walls are lined with artistic drawings: one of them captures
the yellow glow of several sunflowers, another with details of a small cottage. Large windows in the front of the cafe let the sun beam through, which reflects off of the wooden tables. In the corner is two large leather chairs with a couple discussing their need for a vacation.

"Sitting in this cafe makes me want to run away to New York.." says the women with teased out hair.
"I know, this place is amazing," voices the man as he reaches for another sip of his steaming cup of coffee.

"Making coffee is a process" says one of the employees, "you wouldn't think it is, but they're many different types of coffee, and everyone likes theirs made in a special way. Making coffee is what I call an art form. You must take certain steps to make a perfect cappuccino." says the man as he strokes his half grown in beard.
"First, you need to measure out the espresso shot and make sure it's just the right amount so it's not overpowering everything, making the beverage taste too bitter. Then, you need to steam the milk, the foaming action adds volume to the coffee." he exclaims.
The clanking of coffee mugs is heard as the man puts several of them on their proper shelf. The soft indie music is playing in the background, an acoustic guitar is heard between the vocals adding to the relaxing atmosphere of Fog and Flame.
The coffee beans are fresh, and the employees are always eager to impress. A customer named Angie expresses her infatuation with the cafe " Walking out you almost forget you're in town because for a while, it was only you and your mug of steaming luxury..."
